Living History Trafford Project

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this letter finds you all safe and well during these uncertain times.

Our school have recently been provided with an exciting opportunity to be a part of History!

We have been contacted by Trafford Local Studies Centre and archive, with a request to take part in a collaborative project.

The Local Studies Centre’s mission is to not only preserve and protect Trafford’s archives and heritage collections, but also to record the history of today, making our daily experiences available for the study of future generations.

With that in mind, The Local Studies Centre are planning to put together a collaborative project with the aim of recording the experiences of our lives in lockdown.  The aim is to partner with schools, teachers, and their pupils to create an archive collection dedicated to our responses to the Covid-19 pandemic.

We would like to ask you to put together records of your experiences. Maybe you could create a journal, scrapbook, photo album, or any other sort of project to record your time at home. You could also complete a simpler exercise, by answering a survey of questions.

The aim of the project is to create a new archive collection for future generations based around our responses to the coronavirus pandemic.

All written or digital submissions would be GDPR compliant and, unless otherwise directed, would be closed to the public for a period of 50 years.

Attached are a questionnaire, and a Gift Agreement form to enable you to give permission for your records to be used and stored for future research.

If you would like to contribute, please send your photos, diaries, experiences etc to:

livinghistory@saintteresas.com

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me via the school office.

I look forward to working on this exciting project together!

Many thanks for your continued support,

Jane Britner
